The Northeast Region and its Chapters hold their elections on the same schedule as the national organization. The next election will be held in 2012.

Regional Nomination and Election Information

Sally Chapman, Greater Merrimack Valley Chapter, serves as the Region's Nominations and Elections Chair. When the 2012 nominations period opens, she will seek two people to serve with her on the committee to solicit candidates for:

  • Regional Manager
  • Regional Representative (1)*
  • Treasurer, and,
  • Secretary

This Guide to the elected positions in Regions has been developed to assist candidates in making an informed decision about each of the positions. The document outlines both the duties and responsibilities for each of the positions and the skills that a candidate has an opportunity to either develop or hone that are transferable to day-to-day work responsibilities, as well as resumes.

* - The number of Regional Representatives a Region may elect are determined by the National FEW Policies and Procedures. Currently, the ratio is one (1) Regional Representative for every five (5) chapters or fraction thereof. In 2011, the Northeast Region has six (6) chapters; therefore, only one (1) Regional Representative may be elected. If the number of chapters increases to ten (10) before the election period, two (2) Regional Representatives would be eligible to be elected.

Chapter Nomination and Election Information

Similarly, Chapters must form a Nominations and Elections Committe to help the Chapter elect a:

  • Chapter President,
  • Vice President,
  • Treasurer, and,
  • Secretary*

* - Some chapters separate the Secretary duties into Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary; other chapters prefer that only one Secretary handle both responsibilities. Either choice is fine.
